SAP AI Certifications: The Complete List of 4 Exams (2026)
SAP AI certifications currently come down to four exams on SAP Learning: three built around SAP Business AI Platform and generative AI, plus one for the Joule Studio tool. Here is what each exam covers, how it is assessed, and who it is for.
The four exams at a glance
Three of the four are scenario-based with a 60% pass score. The Generative AI Developer exam is the only system-based one, and it has the longest duration and the highest pass mark.
| Certification | Code | Level | Assessment | Duration | Pass score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SAP Certified – Positioning SAP Business AI Platform | C_BCBTP | Entry level | Scenario based | 2 hr | 60% |
| SAP Certified – Solution Architect – SAP Business AI Platform | C_BAIPA | Seasoned professionals | Scenario based | 2 hr | 60% |
| SAP Certified – SAP Generative AI Developer | C_AIG | Developer (associate) | System based | 3 hr | 76% |
| SAP Certified – Joule Studio Developer | C_JSD | Developer, mentored project role | Scenario based | 2 hr | 60% |
SAP Certified – Positioning SAP Business AI Platform (C_BCBTP)
This is the entry point. SAP describes it as an entry-level qualification that confirms you have the foundational knowledge of SAP Business AI Platform. If you can already explain what SAP Business AI is and how it fits together, you are close to the right starting point.
Who it is for. SAP tags the exam with sales, presales, analytics, application development and data integration. In practice that means people who have to explain the platform and its use cases to customers or colleagues, not only people who build on it.
How it is assessed. One scenario-based assessment, two hours, 60% to pass. You respond to a scenario either in a roleplay with AI guidance (offered in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Japanese, plus 25 more languages) or by recording a video, which is English only.
How to prepare. SAP points to its Positioning SAP Business AI Platform learning journey. The exam page also links an AI-powered scenario-based assessment tool, so you can rehearse the format before your first attempt.
Access. The exam sits behind a Learning Hub subscription that includes certification attempts, and you need a valid SAP Universal ID.
SAP Certified – Solution Architect – SAP Business AI Platform (C_BAIPA)
This is the senior credential in the group. SAP positions it for seasoned professionals who connect business strategy to technical delivery, and says it validates the ability to turn business requirements into a complete solution blueprint on SAP Business AI Platform.
What it tests. SAP’s description centres on four areas: integration strategies, technical architecture, application design and solution governance. The exam page does not publish a topic breakdown with weightings, so the learning journey is the best guide to scope.
Who it is for. SAP tags it for architects, with cloud security architecture, business architecture and applications architecture as the listed skills. It suits people who sign off designs, not only those who build them.
How it is assessed. The format is the same as the entry-level exam: one scenario-based assessment, two hours, 60% to pass, with the same roleplay or recorded-video options.
How to prepare. SAP recommends the Becoming an SAP Business AI Platform Solution Architect learning journey. Like the other subscription exams, it needs a Learning Hub subscription with attempts and an SAP Universal ID.
SAP Certified – SAP Generative AI Developer (C_AIG)
This is the most hands-on exam of the four. SAP says it recognises that you can solve business problems with SAP’s generative AI hub, using advanced prompt engineering, prompt development, template management and workflow orchestration in SAP AI Launchpad. We have a separate walkthrough of the C_AIG exam and its task-based format.
How it is assessed. One system-based assessment, so you work in a live system rather than answering a scenario. It runs three hours, the pass score is 76%, and it is offered in English only.
Exam topics. SAP lists seven topic areas, each weighted 11-20%, so none can be skipped:
Who it is for. Developers. SAP tags it with cloud application development, artificial intelligence and generative AI day-to-day practice.
How to prepare. The recommended path is the Solving Business Problems using SAP’s Generative AI Hub learning journey. It includes a practice system, which is the closest you can get to the exam environment before you sit it.
SAP Certified – Joule Studio Developer (C_JSD)
This one is different in scope. It covers a single tool, Joule Studio, rather than the wider SAP Business AI Platform or generative AI hub. We still include it because it is one of the SAP AI certifications you can earn today, and it tests something the other three do not: building and defending AI agents.
What it validates. SAP says it confirms the fundamental and core knowledge of the Joule Studio Developer profile, with enough technical depth to join a project team in a mentored role.
How it is assessed. One scenario-based assessment, two hours, 60% to pass. You first complete the learning journey and build agents in a hands-on Joule Studio environment, then share that work in the exam. An AI avatar asks you to show what you built and answers follow-up questions. The roleplay is offered in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Japanese plus 25 more languages; the recorded-video option is English only. We sat the exam ourselves and wrote up how the AI avatar exam works.
Cost. SAP lists this exam with a free voucher rather than the subscription label of the other three. Our earlier guide covers the current terms, including the 31 December 2026 end date, and SAP’s own free voucher FAQ is the place to confirm eligibility before you start.
Go to the SAP certification pageWho it is for. Developers. SAP tags it with SAP Business Technology Platform, AI-assisted development, knowledge graph integration and interaction, and artificial intelligence.
How to prepare. Work through the Developing with Joule Studio learning journey and complete every practice exercise. SAP’s own warning on the page is that skipping the instructions and exercises is the most common reason learners fail.
Which SAP AI certification should you take?
Start from your role, not the exam name (our guide to the SAP AI certification paths compares the developer and consultant routes):
The formats matter as much as the content. Three of the four are scenario-based and rely on talking through your reasoning to an AI or on a recorded video. C_AIG is the only one SAP labels system based, so it is assessed inside a live system.
